Radiographs (or x-rays) are an extremely important tool to aid in the diagnosis of many illnesses and injuries that our pets sustain. At the Danforth Veterinary Clinic, we use brand-new digital technology, allowing us to capture the most clear and precise images possible. The radiographs are taken on-site and can usually be interpreted by the doctor immediately, giving us valuable information within minutes. Almost every internal structure can be evaluated using x-rays, and we commonly use them to assess the heart and lungs, the abdominal organs such as the liver, spleen, kidney, bladder and gastro-intestinal tract. Radiographs are also necessary in the diagnosis of many orthopedic conditions involving the bones such as fractures, arthritis and tumours. Radiographs are non-invasive and extremely safe – even for very young or pregnant animals, and our well-trained staff will make sure the procedure is as gentle and comfortable as possible for your pet.
